![]() ![]() The cuffs are on the large side, but I've never found an OTR dress shirt that didn't suffer from this, and have given up trying. Never had problems with the collars, or with the plackets being too stiff, though they are interfaced. As far as the non-iron aspect, they soften up well enough after a couple of wears or washes, and don't feel crinkly. I regularly get them for about $32 each, after shipping and taxes, and I've yet to have one fall apart on me. They're certainly not the best shirts out there (neither are Brooks Brothers, I'm sorry to say), but they're excellent for the price point, and punch above their weight. I'm in the CT camp and, like some others here, view shirts as high-wear items that will likely need to be replaced with relative frequency. Bank shirts that have gone through an elbow in a few weeks). I have not had many elbows blow out with either brand, and if they did it was after a long period of ownership (for comparison, I have had Jos. Quality control is better on the BB shirts and they'll last longer, but I personally find the CT to be great for the price. The CT site has more flexibility when ordering your shirt in terms of sleeve length, cuff style, pocket/no pocket options - BB custom options are astronomical in comparison. The BB shirts seem to retain their non-iron coating a little better with age. But if you can get the BB ones on sale and get them tailored, they are head-and-shoulders above the CT shirts in terms of quality.īoth will get more breathable over time, but neither is particularly great when new. My closet is mostly CT shirts, since I use them every day for work and it's easier to find their multi-buy deals in a pinch for $25-30/shirt. The BB will run larger (similar experience to above, the Milano still needs to be taken in at the waist), but the quality is also significantly better on the Brooks option. The cut of the CT shirts tends to be slimmer, so I myself generally go for those since they tend to fit better off the rack without tailoring (I buy the Extra Slim). Granted, so are the Charles Tyrwhitt option, it's just easier to get them on sale. ![]() I'm going to second what u/ComprehensiceCause1 said, but emphasize that the BB shirts are amazing on sale. I’ll definitely be giving both shirts a try. I have never had this happen to me with any other brand of shirt how common is this?Įdit: Thanks to everyone! You have all provided me with some great information. However, after a few washes I assume that the shirts end up breathing better and feeling a bit softer perhaps then when you first buy them? If anyone could chime in on this and which shirts they feel are softer and breath better that would be great.įinally, which one has better quality control and will last longer? I have seen a few post online of both BB and CT shirts blowing out at the elbow. I realize that a majority of BB and CT shirts are non iron and to achieve this they use chemicals which lead to less breathable cotton. The BB shirt I tried on was non iron and felt a bit scratchy/itchy to me. Was the CT rep right in that slim fit is close to the BB Regent fit and if I got a CT slim fit I should get 15 1/2 32”?Īlso I live in a hot climate so I would be looking for something that breaths well and is light. Now I have never owned any BB or CT dress shirts before so I had the following questions. I also asked about size and mentioned that in the Regent fit I was 15 1/2 32” the CT rep mentioned that the same size would fit me. The rep stated that slim fit would be similar and that there was only a few cm difference between BB Regent and CT slim fit. Now I don’t have any CT stores near me to try any of their shirts, so I reached out to their customer service and asked what they had that was similar to BB Regent fit. I recently went to BB and tried on their Regent fit which I liked. I’m looking to add some new dress shirts to my wardrobe and I was looking at Brooks Brothers or Charles Tyrwhitt. ![]() Clothing Care, Tailoring, and Maintenance.Search posts by flair by clicking the below ✓! - WAYWT sorted by new (beginner friendly). ![]() Hair, Skincare, Fitness Questions go in Daily Questions ThreadĬlick on the thread titles to see the most recent one No Personal Attacks, Insults & Demeaning Commentsįollow Posting Requirements (click for more info) Non-discussion Questions go in Daily Questions Thread Introduction FAQs The MFA Wiki Getting Started: Basic Advice GuidesĪll Posts Must Give Advice or Inspiration We welcome those who want to learn and those who want to contribute.
